Pre-installed apps are a nightmare on Windows – Microsoft knows about it, so they’re doing something about it 2 Comments

When we start using a computer with Windows 11, we find many things as soon as we open it. pre-installed apps Bloatware from Microsoft (and maybe other companies too). The logical thing to do in this type of scenario would be to identify those that don’t concern us and then eliminate them, although it might take some time, but the truth is that this isn’t always possible.

There are applications that we cannot eliminate. If we try by right-clicking on any of them in the start menu, we will not find the option to remove them. And of course this can be a problem for many users who want to have absolutely essential things on their computer. Microsoft knows this and has become more flexible about it in recent years. It will now allow you to uninstall more of these apps.

Goodbye Camera, Photos and more

Microsoft is working so that Windows 11 users can delete it like any other app Camera, Cortana, Photos, Contacts and Remote Desktop. Currently this is probably not standard methods and if you want to remove them you will have to do a manual procedure involving entering a series of commands in PowerShell. It’s definitely a possibility, but for more technical users.

The changes started appearing in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25931, so Windows Insider Program users can now take advantage of this facility, which allows them to easily uninstall the pre-installed apps mentioned above and reinstall them if necessary. The rest of us will have to wait a while for this possibility to start rolling out in recent versions of Windows.

It should be noted that the problem of pre-installed apps that cannot be uninstalled is not something specific to Microsoft. Focusing on desktop operating systems, macOS is also part of the same group. Most apps can be dragged to the Trash, but some, such as Safari, Mail, Calendar, Notes, and Music, do not allow traditional removal.
