The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced that asteroid 6037 (1988 EG) will pass close to Earth on Wednesday, August 23.
This was reported by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), according to Ukrinform.
According to NASA, the length of the celestial body is 549 m.
The distance from it to Earth will be 6.1 million kilometers. The speed of the asteroid is 51,300 km/h.
If an asteroid approaches Earth at a distance of less than 7.4 million km and exceeds 150 m in size, NASA considers it a “potentially dangerous object.”
In this case, the asteroid drops below two parameters at the same time.
As reported by Ukrinform, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) reported that asteroid 2023 OQ passed close to Earth on Sunday, August 6th.
