Italian police thwarted hacker attacks by pro-Russian groups during the semi-finals and Saturday’s final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, which Ukraine won.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Reuters.

During the voting and speeches of the participants, it was recorded that many cyber attacks against the network infrastructure by the hacker group Killnet and its branch Legion were repelled by the police.

On May 11, Killnet announced an attack on the websites of several Italian institutions, including the Senate, the upper house of the Italian parliament and the National Institutes of Health (ISS).

After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the governments of many Western countries stepped up their preparations for possible cyberattacks on their IT systems and infrastructure.
