Android 14 Beta 5.1 fixes minor bugs

Android 14 is almost here! The first developer preview was released in February, and we’re now in beta 5. Google considers beta 5 almost a final build and released beta 5.1 recently with a few fixes. The update is already available as an over-the-air (OTA) patch for Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5 series, Pixel 6 series, Pixel 7 series, Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet.

The update fixes disconnections, blank home screen and SIM card issue. You can see the full list of fixes taken directly from Google’s release notes below.

  • Fixed an issue that caused the system to stop detecting the SIM card when Fixed Dialing (FDN) features were enabled.
  • Fixed an issue that caused disconnections on devices with carriers using 5G Standalone (SA) mode.
  • Fixed an issue on some devices that caused a blank home screen after the device was unlocked.
  • Fixed a performance issue on Pixel Fold by temporarily disabling the feather style live wallpaper. The live wallpaper version will be reactivated after other major issues are resolved.

Bug fixes are minor, so Android 14 is probably ready for a stable release. Pixel and Pixel Fold tablet owners will receive this patch as follows: UPB5.230623.005.A1while other available Pixels get the structure UPB5.230623.005. You can update your device by going to Settings > Software > Software Update.
