Lenovo will launch a complete hardware ecosystem for gaming on the go, and along with the Legion Go portable console, they have appeared some AR glasses that could be the perfect accessoryYes, as they say, it will be a gaming-optimized and economy-sized model.
It’s not the first time a Chinese firm has developed an augmented reality device, and the ThinkReality A3 is a case in point. However, they are dedicated to corporate workspaces. Lenovo’s new AR glasses would be specially designed for gaming and while they would be sold separately, they would be released at the same time as the portable console we’ve been talking about for the past few weeks.
Lenovo already tried this last year, but like the handheld, the launch was delayed. Their technical characteristics are unknown, but they are said to be small enough use them during long games. They will not have a separate battery, so a standard USB Type-C cable will be used for power.
An augmented reality device would offer game-specific benefits such as high refresh rates. We will wait for official information, but if it comes at a good price, it could boost these devices in the consumer market.
Along with the new glasses, Windows Report published more information and images of the portable console it confirms everything we’ve told you so far.
A handheld slot machine will have a 8 inch screen and detachable controllers on each side similar to Nintendo Switch joy-cons with triggers, buttons and side triggers.
Connectivity is also familiar, with two USB Type-C ports, one on the bottom and one on the top, plus a 3.5mm headphone jack, volume rockers, power button and microSD card slot.
Finally, mention that its engine would be based on the latest AMD “Phoenix” processors (Ryzen for laptops), but with a model Ryzen Z1 specially designed for Windows portable devices. Lenovo’s machine would run on Windows 11 and is expected to be unveiled at Europe’s IFA 2023. Very interesting on paper.
