Germany is considering transferring IRIS-T SLM air defense systems to Ukraine. This was reported by Bild citing its own sources. According to the information at hand, the systems will be put into use as of November if a positive decision is taken on the transfer of weapons.
The publication also claims that Ukraine is considering purchasing 10 IRIS-T SLM systems. They can be done in 3-4 years. Training of Ukrainian specialists can begin as soon as the German government decides. The DIEHL system manufacturer’s proposal has been under discussion for a week, but no decision has yet been made.
IRIS-T SLM – medium air defense system. It is based on the IRIS-T SL, a variant of ground-based missiles used in addition to the American PAC-3 missiles.
