Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday criticized Meta for banning local news from its platforms due to raging fires, saying it’s critical in times of crisis to have information updated.

Facebook has also activated the “security check“, which allows users to spread the word that they are safe after a natural disaster or crisis.
