Two former Tesla employees were behind the data leak of the personal information of more than 75,000 people, including staff.
This is stated in the company’s message, as quoted by Ukrinform, citing Reuters.
Tesla’s data privacy officer Steven Elentuch, in his application to the Maine state attorney general’s office, noted that the data revealed as a result of the leak reached the German media Handelsblatt in May.
The media outlet told the automaker that the company had obtained confidential information that could identify customers’ names, addresses, phone numbers and Social Security information.
At the same time, Tesla identified the employees who leaked the data, sued them and confiscated their devices.
It was previously reported that employee groups tesla privately exchanged customer information through internal messaging systems, including videos and images captured by dash cams.
