Galaxy S23 FE, final specs and September launch

After various rumors and leaks, it seems that Samsung is finally clear when it will launch the Galaxy S23 FE, the terminal that will replace the Galaxy S21 FE, since there was no Galaxy S22 FE, and that it will arrive sometime in the year and the month of September. The exact date has not yet been confirmed, but it is clear that Samsung will try to throw some shade on the presentation of the iPhone 15 with this presentation.

The Galaxy S23 FE will be a cheaper version of the Galaxy S23. To reduce the selling price of Samsung will introduce cuts this will affect both the build quality of the terminal and its specifications. Externally, we can expect a plastic finish, which is a significant sacrifice compared to the glass finish of the standard model, while at the hardware level, it will reuse the SoC that we saw in the Galaxy S22 series.

Keep in mind that when we talk about the SoC used in the Galaxy S22, we mean both the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 that was present in the models for the United States and other international markets, and the Exynos 2200 that was used in the European version. So that means the Galaxy S23 FE will have it will use two different SoCs depending on the market in which it is distributed.

It makes sense, after all, it would allow Samsung to clear the SoC stock from previous generations that it has accumulated, and in the end the Galaxy S23 FE would continue to be the top terminal with these two chips, although it is true that given the results that both offered at the time Snapdragon 8 Gen1 would be a better choice.

Galaxy S23 FE Specs: Galaxy S22 by another name

This is the best way to define this “new” smartphone that Samsung will launch in September, although we must remember that, as I told you before, its completion it won’t be as premium like a true top of the range. At the hardware level, this will be its final configuration, according to the latest information:

  • 6.4-inch display with dynamic AMOLED panel, 120 Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution.
  • Exynos 2200 SoC with an octa-core CPU, divided into one high-performance Cortex-X2 core, three Cortex-A710 cores and four high-efficiency Cortex-A510 cores. Xclipse 920 GPU based on AMD RDNA2 architecture (Europe).
  • Snapdragon 8 Gen1 SoC with an octa-core CPU, divided into a high-performance Cortex-X2 core, three Cortex-A710 cores and four Cortex-A510 cores. Adreno 730 GPU (United States and rest of the world, except Europe).
  • 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM, depending on the version.
  • 128 GB or 256 GB of storage capacity, depending on the version.
  • Three rear cameras, main 50 MP, telephoto 12 MP and wide-angle 8 MP.
  • 10 MP front camera.
  • 4,500mAh battery compatible with 25W fast charging.
  • Android 13 as a custom operating system with One UI 5.1 layer.
  • Four years of Android updates and five years of security patches.
  • Fingerprint reader.

The selling price has not yet been disclosed, but taking into account what we can find on the market right now, it is clear that Samsung would have to do a good job if it wants to position this Galaxy S23 FE well. I personally believe that should not cost more than 649 eurosbecause for that money it is possible to buy one of its big direct rivals, the Nothing Phone (2).
