AGM-158 JASSM (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile) is an American high-precision air-to-surface cruise missile developed by Lockheed Martin Corporation. It is designed for the destruction of highly protected stationary and mobile targets in all weather conditions and around the clock.

The cruise missile was created using low-visibility radar technologies. The rocket is equipped with a turbojet engine. As part of the guidance system, an infrared homing head is used and an autonomous recognition system is installed, together with a rectified inertial control system from the signal receiver of the GPS satellite system with a high degree of radio-electronic protection.

JASSM is integrated into the armament of the following aircraft carriers: B-1, B-2 and B-52 bombers, F-16 and F/A-18. Integration work with the F-15E continues, integration with the F-35 is planned.

The design of the cruise missile has a normal aerodynamic scheme and is a low-flying missile with complex elevations. Composite materials are widely used, taking into account carbon fibers in the design of the rocket. The propulsion system uses the Teledyne Turbine Engines J402-CA-100 single-stage, single-circuit turbojet engine with improved compressor and fuel systems compared to the original J402-CA-400 Harpoon anti-ship missile engine.

The control system is inertly combined with the correction of accumulated errors based on the data of the NAVSTAR satellite navigation system signal receiver. In the last part of the flight path, infrared guided head and autonomous target recognition tools can be used.

JASSM uses a penetrating unitary warhead J-1000 (serial designation WDU-42/B) weighing approximately 450 kg. The body of the BZ is made of tungsten alloy and is equipped with a 109 kg high-impact low-precision explosive AFX-757.

The bottom of the PSU has vents and a patented “thermally reactive” retaining ring. The locking ring is released at the normal temperature of about 140-150 degrees Celsius. This ensures that the main load is blown through the vents; this eliminates the accumulation of excessive pressure and the absence of any other reaction to the action of dangerous factors, except for the combustion of the load. The FMU-156/B programmable capsule is used to start the BZ. The detonator of the electromechanical type contains 150 g of the explosive compound PBXN-9.

The ratio of the mass of BR to the cross-sectional area is 0.64. The BZ J-1000 is able to penetrate medium-density soil to a depth of 6.1 to 24.4 meters at a speed of 300 m/s and pierces reinforced concrete slabs with a total thickness of 1.2-2.1 meters. During development, the possibility of using the BZD cluster missile was foreseen, depending on the type of target hit. To equip the cluster warhead, submunitions BLU-97 GEM (combined action) were considered.

A modification of the AGM-158 JASSM-ER (AGM-158B) was also developed; this differs from the basic version of the missile with increased fuel tanks and the more economical Williams International F-107-WR-105 two. circuit turbojet engine (based on Williams F112 instead of previous one) .
