Chances are, for many people, it is install google chrome extension in firefox It may sound extremely strange to you, even forced. Not for nothing, let’s recall that the Mozilla browser is one of the few that refused to make the Chromium jump, a condition that makes it extremely easy to transfer elements between Chrome and Edge, as well as to and from them with other browsers based on this same root.
In reality, however, this is a change that began to take shape more than two years ago, when Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Mozilla have formed the WebExtensions Community Group, a group focused on standardizing browser extension development. This, as we reported at the time, was surprising because all Chromium-based browsers already shared de factoa lot along these lines, so the one who could win the most (or lose, depending on the point of view, which we already know are all kinds) was Firefox if the developers decided to go down this route.
Less than two weeks ago, you may remember, we told you that the version of Firefox for Android will be able to use extensions for the desktop version of the browser, undoubtedly a major improvement that can serve to improve the numbers of the Mozilla browser on Google’s operating system for devices. Something to do with WebExtensions. And I’m not saying that, Giorgio Natili, director of engineering at Firefox, says this in his blog post announcing the news:
“There is so much creative potential to be unlocked in the mobile browser space. Mozilla wants to give developers the best support we can to equip and empower them to build modern mobile web extensions.“
Well, Mozilla has reserved other news related to extensions for this month of August. According to what we can read in Ghacks, Firefox can now import extensions that a user has installed in Google Chromeand we are talking about the stable version of the browser, not the Beta, Developer Edition or Nightly, that means it is already available (but…) for all users who want to use it.
So, what was it than in the previous paragraph? Well, it’s actually because still in testing phase and is therefore not enabled by default. Well, if you are a Mozilla browser user, you already know that this is not a big problem either. In fact, its activation is a fairly simple process. Of course, before you do that, remember… this is a feature that’s still being tested, so it might not work well, so be careful.
Issued a security warning, These are the steps you need to take to import Chrome extensions into Firefox:
