Former US President Donald Trump (2017-2021) defended his decision not to attend the first debate of the Republican primary this Wednesday because of the huge advantage the polls give him over other candidates.
“doesn’t make sense” said the former president in an interview with the former host of the network foxnews Tucker Carlson, published on the social network X (formerly Twitter) simultaneously with the Republican debate, was broadcast on the Fox channel.
Trump recalled that most polls give him advantage “in 50, 60, even 70 points”, so he sees no point in having “ten people” yell at him and ask him questions.
He also blamed some presidential candidates.like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis or former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, whom he called “weak” and said he shouldn’t run for office.

Republicans weren’t the only ones the former president ranted about. During a conversation Trump criticizes traditional TV channels (“They are no longer trustworthy”), the prosecutors who charged him (“they are wild animals, sick people”), and his favorite target, current President Joe Biden.
Trump has gone so far as to suggest that he does not believe Biden, who turned 80 in November, will make it to the 2024 election alive, claiming that his mental state is even worse than his physical.
Also ardently defended his belief that the 2020 electionin which he lost to a Democrat were rigged, which numerous media outlets and organizations deny.
The ex-president assured that voting by mail is only a “deception”, and advocated a return to a paper voting systemalways with ID.
