Space.com states that the Electron launch vehicle carrying the Acadia Earth remote sensing satellite was launched from the New Zealand spaceport at 02:45 Kiev time.
Placement of the Acadia satellite into the planned orbit took about an hour.
The launch was Rocket Lab’s eighth launch in 2023 and the company’s 40th overall.
Today’s mission, titled We Love the Nightlife, is said to be very special for Rocket Lab, as one of the nine first-stage engines aboard Electron had visited space in May 2022. Thus, for Rocket Lab, this mission was the first mission with a used engine.
