The company said that the author of this year’s doodle is originally Kiev artist Polina Doroshenko. His vivid use of national colors, yellow and blue, is reminiscent of the Ukrainian flag and gives the work an air of unmistakable patriotism. These shadows represent the image of endless wheat fields stretching across the country and are synonymous with the endless sky overhead. In addition, the drawing reflects the determined spirit of the people and their desire for freedom.

Polina Doroshenko, the author of the doodle, had this to say about her idea:

I tried to reflect our individuality and unity by giving importance to the little things, from the color of the sneakers to the traditional clothing and embroidery details. Symbolizing the strength of the spirit and unwavering perseverance in the face of difficulties, the ceramic rooster is a testament to our determination. He assimilated our contemporaries as well as those who celebrated the independence of Ukraine thirty years ago.

Independence Day celebrations this year are of particular importance as it coincides with the continued defense of Ukraine’s sovereignty in the face of continued Russian occupation.

The significance of this national holiday is to commemorate the establishment of Ukraine as a sovereign state in 1991.
