Dell updates its Alienware 500 Hz monitor, now at a better price

Dell introduced a new Alienware monitor with a refresh rate of 500 Hz. It is the second model of the brand with this feature and now it bets on a cheaper price thanks to the open FreeSync Premium standard.

Refresh rate has become one of the main elements to consider when buying a monitor. And it is because the higher its value, the better user experience we will have in any task, especially in the fastest and most competitive games.

500 Hz is the maximum mark which have reached the industry in refresh rate. They were announced by NVIDIA at Computex 2022 and the truth is that we saw very, very few of them. Probably because the average price rises considerably by having to add to the green giant paying royalties and using a proprietary hardware module in the monitors, as required by its G-Sync technology, when you want to implement it natively. (There are many other G-Sync “compatible” monitors.)

Alienware 500 Hz, now with FreeSync

Dell was one of the few to market this type of technology with the AW2524H, which now has a sequel, but with a different technology, namely FreeSync Premium for image synchronization and under the open VESA AdaptiveSync standard. What the monitor supports is the NVIDIA Reflex Analyzer which can be used to accurately measure latency.

The new model, the Alienware AW2524HF, has a panel 24.5 inch IPS with a native resolution of FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) and a response time of 0.5 milliseconds. The panel covers 99% of the sRGB color space and is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified.

In the rest, it has RGB backlighting and an ergonomic base with support for height and rotation. Also with a menu system designed for video game enthusiasts. Preset modes such as Esports, FPS, MOBA/RTS, RPG and Sports load color settings optimized for each genre, while Game Enhance mode displays a timer to record workouts or a frame rate counter to monitor real-time performance. It also has manual settings for response time, visibility in dark environments and variable backlighting.

The new Alienware 500 Hz monitor will be available from September 12 for $649.99. Much cheaper than the original with G-Sync.
