This picture will clearly go down in history and everyone will perceive it differently. Trump’s supporters are already praising and supporting their idols in the comments, while his opponents are happy with his temporary jail sentence. Even so, with Elon Musk taking over Twitter, Donald Trump’s page was quickly unblocked. However, he remained silent. It remained silent from January 8, 2021 to August 24, 2023.
Trump at X again
When Trump lost the 2021 election following the Capitol riots, the social network’s leadership at the time banned the former president from using the platform, citing “the risk of inciting further violence.” The same thing happened to other services: Facebook, YouTube, etc.
Since then, Trump has founded his own social platform, Truth Social, where he has continued to promote the Republican standpoint and rally around him a group of highly controversial racists, extremists, politicians, and activists. After Musk lifted the ban, audiences were stunned by what would happen next, but nothing happened. It was silent.
The reason for the silence became clear later. In January of this year, Rolling Stone reported: Trump has an exclusive contract with Truth Social, which requires him to publish all of his content on the platform firstand there is only 6 hours gap to copy on other platforms. The deal expired in June to coincide with the presidential race that Trump wanted to enter. So social media users expected him to return to Twitter to launch the campaign. In addition, the duration of the ban, which is learned to be published on Facebook for two years, is also on the agenda.
Now Trump is back and posted a photo of him where he was in prison for only 20 minutes and was released on bail:
There are several inscriptions in the photo: “Election interference” and “Never give up!”. In addition, the address of Trump’s website, where the photo was published, is indicated with a long note that begins: “I HAVE BEEN ARRESTED IN Georgia’s notorious Fulton County Penitentiary today even though I have not committed ANY CRIME.“.
It is no longer clear whether he plans to run the social network on a regular basis or whether this is a one-off event. He had previously stated that he was not interested in returning.
