From September, commercial customers can activate a Teams Premium test license themselves. This is done using their Microsoft Entra ID.
Starting next month, Microsoft Teams commercial users will be able to initiate a Teams Premium trial license themselves using their Entra ID. The rollout would be global immediately.
bonus
The new Microsoft Teams Premium is based on the chatbot ChatGPT-3.5 and aims to offer a more personalized experience on the platform. Users have more security features and translation options for forty different languages.
Meetings have other smart features, including a smart summary feature, custom meeting templates, or special backgrounds. Especially for webinars there are new virtual green rooms, waiting lists for registration and the possibility to adjust start and end times.
Practical
When this rollout is active, users can activate a trial period of 60 days via their Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory). IT admins can see and manage these self-service trial licenses as other subscriptions in Microsoft 365.
According to Microsoft, after the trial period, admins also have full control over whether to upgrade it to a paid subscription. So there is no automatic renewal.
Teams 2.0 rolled out earlier this month. This version received significant improvements in many areas.
