Oil wholesale company Eneos reported that a new technology based on the use of petroleum and other biomaterials is used in the production of this substance.
The company plans to begin production of the material at its refinery in western Japan by the end of this year.
Mass production of such bottles is planned for 2024. Approximately 35 million bottles will be produced annually.
Soda Tadakazu, the official representative of Eneos, noted that with this technology, it is possible to almost completely eliminate carbon dioxide emissions from plastic bottles produced from petroleum products.
