Experts simulated the operation of the Russian Lancet drone paired with the Orlan reconnaissance drone. The drones are launched from the catapult by two fighter jets and complement each other to attack the target.
In order for the Lancet drone to hit its target, the following actions must be performed:
Two soldiers launch the Orlan reconnaissance plane using catapults;
Orlan drone tracks and selects targets;
A soldier secures the wings of the Lancet drone and prepares it for launch from the catapult;
The command and control system of the “Orlan” unmanned aerial vehicle transmits the coordinates of the target to the “Lancet” unmanned aerial vehicle;
“Lancet” switches to the electro-optical guidance system in the direction of the “Orlan” command and control center;
The Lancet attacks the target, activating the high-explosive projectile used to detonate or pierce the armor.
The production of a drone ranges from 20 to 40 thousand dollars. The cost of the Kinjal hypersonic missile is 10 million dollars.
The Lancet drone is 1.65 m long and is equipped with two pairs of x-shaped wings located at the front and rear of the fuselage. The wingspan of the drone is 1 meter and its weight is about 12 kg. The drone can be operated by a team of two, and a catapult is required to launch the drone. Source
