It’s not uncommon for large companies to consist of multiple Microsoft tenants. Communication between the different tenants was not really easy until now, as each user group was on its own island. Microsoft is changing that with some new handy collaboration features only available in the updated desktop client.
A novelty introduced by Microsoft in July is the creation of shared channels. This allows you to chat and make video calls with people from other departments of the organization without having to leave your “home tenant”. The feature has been in testing since March 2022 and is now generally available. Microsoft is also now adding a new notifications system, so you’ll get notifications from your own and the shared channels, regardless of which one you’re currently active in.
The right person
Of course, all of these channels can also create confusion, especially when you want to send a message to a specific person. The search function now shows a person’s name, which tenant they belong to. For example, if several people named Peter Janssens work at your company, you’ll know with greater certainty that you’re addressing the right person.
To use these collaboration features, each designated admin must register their tenant in the organization’s common admin center. Teams then enables full synchronization of users across tenants and MTO functions.

Microsoft is crazy about artificial intelligence and spices up the renewed Teams desktop client with a pinch of AI. The latest AI addition is Typeface AI integration. This feature helps with the creation of marketing and email campaigns, among other things.
