Chuwi CoreBoxes are scale models of desktop towers. Now they reach their fifth generation at the best moment in the mini-PC sector, the only one that continues to grow in the field of desktop computers.
The Chuwi CoreBox Gen5 uses a slightly larger chassis than the previous generation with dimensions 173 x 158 x 73 mm. The goal is to make room for more ports and house an improved cooling system with an aluminum heatsink, four nickel-plated copper heat pipes, and a 3,400 rpm hydraulic fan.
The engine of this machine is the latest generation Intel processor from the Mobile series and specifically a Core i5-13500H e, with 12 cores (including four high-performance ones with frequencies up to 4.7 GHz) and 16 threads and integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics with 80 execution units at 1.45 GHz.
Intel recommends setting the base power of this processor to 45 watts, but the chip actually supports up to 95 watts with turbo boost, so it’s no surprise that Chuwi was able to configure the chip to run at a higher than typical power level. , to which the new cooling system contributed.
Other main features are dual-channel DDR5 memory that can be connected (two slots for 64 GB) and an M.2 connector for installing a PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD. Regarding connectivity, we see an Ethernet LAN port, 6 USB Type A ports and a 3.5mm audio jack. It will also support Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth, and for video output it will have two Display Ports and another two HDMIs, with which it will feed content to up to four monitors simultaneously.
The fifth-generation Chuwi CoreBox will be available for pre-order on September 15. Those who register on the manufacturer’s website before this date will be able to get a coupon with a 20% discount from the official price, which has not been provided at this time.
