Samsung plans to use the Exynos 2400 SoC in its next generation of high-end smartphones, but according to new information, the Galaxy S24 Ultra it will only use the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 SoCwhich means it won’t have two versions with different chips, which would undoubtedly be quite curious, although it is not confirmed.

Why would Samsung use the Exynos 2400 SoC in its Galaxy S24 and S24+ but not the Ultra model? It’s a good question, and the only answer that makes sense revolves around a question of cost and performance. The latest leaks I’ve seen suggest that the Exynos 2400 will offer lower GPU performance than the Snapdragon 8 Gen3, meaning it will be positioned one notch lower.

If that’s the case, why doesn’t Samsung use Snapdragon 8 Gen3 as the only option in all its terminals? This is where the issue of cost would come into play, and it is that said chip will be quite expensive and it is said that it could trigger the selling price of smartphones that use it. By using the SoC Exynos 2400 in part of its next-generation terminals, the South Korean company reduces costs and leaves some money “at home”.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra will continue to differentiate itself from the standard and plus models on the quality and size of the screen as well as the set of cameras and stylus support. It is clear that it will also be more expensive than these two models, in fact it is said that Samsung could increase the selling price between 50 and 100 euros compared to the current model at the time of launch.

We also have other news about the possible specifications of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, specifically about its storage capacity. This new terminal will retain the base storage capacity of 256GB and will scale maximum 2 TB. It seems that the base version will continue to offer 8 GB of RAM and that we will already have 12 GB of RAM from the version with 512 GB of storage capacity.

We don’t know if Samsung is considering increase the size of the maximum memory to 16 GB with the 2TB Galaxy S24 Ultra, but it’s a possibility we can’t rule out at this point. For the rest, no news at the moment, so all the well-substantiated rumors we’ve seen so far remain, including Samsung’s alleged jump to a flat screen to the detriment of the current curved finish.
