saga Saints Row, the highest reference of the American studio Volition, has been with us since the launch of the first of its titles, which was created in 2006, and since then the family consists of five titles. The last of them, an attempt to reboot the saga, was announced two years ago, at Gamescom 2021, and went on sale just a year later, in August 2022.

The critics the game garnered were pretty weak. In the Metacritic aggregator, we can see that the average of professional reviews remained at 65 out of 100, which we could define as acceptable without further ado, but private users were particularly devastating, to the extent that in this section we find 2.5 out of 10, a complete failurewhich left the study and continuity of the saga quite affected.

Until today, however, we could talk about the possibility that Volition, the studio behind the whole saga, might pick it up at some point. Not so much because of the results of the latest Saints Row, of course, but because of the history and because for many users it is a franchise that is remembered with some fondness. This option however she disappeared completely after publishing the official statement on LinkedIn, which you can see below this paragraph.

In it, as you can read, the immediate end of voting is announced, in a decision made last June by its parent company Embracer Group. This decision would be part of a restructuring program (the word is getting scarier, isn’t it?) by which the group wants to strengthen its position in the gaming market. And if you’re not too familiar with the name Embracer Group, that will undoubtedly change when you learn that we’re talking about a Swedish holding company, the owner of Amplifier Game Invest, Asmodee, CDE Entertainment, Coffee Stain Holding, Dark Horse Media, DECA Games, Easybrain, Embracer Freemode , including their Middle-earth Enterprises division, Gearbox Entertainment, Plaion, Saber Interactive and THQ Nordic.

The will is… era, a historical study of the industry, born in 1996 as a result of the Parallax Software division, created three years earlier. Over the years, in addition to the Saints Row saga, the studio has signed other notable titles, such as the well-remembered Freespace saga and Red Faction, as well as the unfortunately canceled Insane project, in which Guillermo del Toro participated.

Just yesterday we recapped the closure of Mimimi Games, a small but formidable studio that brought great joy to us lovers of the medium, and today we know about the downfall of the historical saga that is responsible for such a famous saga as Saints Row. Definitely, The video game sector is getting more complicated every day.
