SpaceX launches 22 Starlink satellites into orbit

On the evening of August 31, SpaceX launched 22 Starlink Internet satellites into orbit and launched the rocket into the sea. The Falcon 9 rocket carrying a Starlink spacecraft took off from the Florida Space Force Station at Cape Canaveral at 10:21 PM ET (September 1, 2:21 GMT) this evening.

The first stage of Falcon 9 returned to Earth as planned and landed approximately 8.5 minutes after takeoff on the Missing of SpaceX’s unmanned spacecraft Gravitas parked in the Atlantic Ocean.

According to SpaceX’s mission statement, this was the seventh launch and landing of the launch vehicle in question. Meanwhile, the company’s re-use record was 16 flights on two different first stages of the Falcon 9. In the evening, Falcon 9’s upper echelon continued to fly. If all goes as planned, it will place 22 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit (LOO) about 65 minutes after launch.

The Starlink launch was to be the second half of SpaceX’s twin program: A Falcon 9 was scheduled to launch 13 satellites for the US Space Force from Cape Canaveral this morning.

However, SpaceX canceled this planned launch due to an undisclosed issue. The company is currently targeting 11:26 ET (15:26 GMT) on Friday, September 1 for the Space Force launch.
