Nintendo presents the new Switch with Mario as the protagonist

Nintendo Switch OLED: Mario Red Edition is new special version from the console of the Japanese giant. As its name suggests, it is supposed to animate the launch of the video game Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Or feedback from its release, as happened with the last Zelda.

Nintendo saw the first red numbers in its history a few years ago due to the Wii U disaster, an enormous drop in sales of its portable consoles due to the arrival of versatile smartphones, and the subsequent death of former president Satoru. Iwata, who left the company without one of its great references and forced a major management restructuring.

But like a proper giant it didn’t take long to ‘resurrect’ with the Switch console reporting great results and that it is experiencing a second youth thanks to the version with an OLED screen, and this year with the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’, a title capable of selling 10 million units in the first three days after its release, ranked as the most awarded game of all time in the meta-rankings, such as OpenCritic, and also leads Metaranking until the arrival of another of this year’s greats: Baldur’s Gate 3 for PC.

Nintendo Switch OLED: Mario Red Edition

Nintendo continues to produce fantastic exclusives from its core IPs, and if the latest Zelda is a marvel, it’s not far behind what it brings for the plumber created by the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto. Another title in the saga, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, is coming (October 20) and Nintendo intends to make the most of it with a new special version of its console.

The version has a colored finish red Mario RED, on the console, on the base and on the Joy-Con controllers. The dock has a few other features, including a small Mario silhouette and embossed coins on the back.

Otherwise, it’s the same as the standard OLED Nintendo Switch.

The price of the console is 349 dollars and can already be reserved on Nintendo’s web portal. The special version will be available on October 6th, a few weeks before the next Mario game is released.
