And I say interesting because unlike its latest iterations, which I’ve been pretty critical of, this one gets back on track with what really matters: performance and customization.

Thus, Vivaldi 6.2 is presented primarily with a 37% improvement in performance when opening windows, data that is as accurate as it is irrelevant, because as the browser developers explain, this is what they obtained in their tests « with the new profile on a computer equipped with a 2 GHz Intel processor Core i3″, so depending on the equipment, the level of improvement may vary.

What is really important is that performance improvementwhether bigger or smaller, it will be shared by all Vivaldi users on PC because it occurs in one of the weak points of the browser: the technology with which its interface is created, and it is contrary to what is happening with the rest of the big browser, Vivaldi it does not use a native interface for its interface, but relies on web technologies, which are usually not the most efficient.

Be that as it may, over the years they’ve managed to hone the performance of the interface quite a bit (there are those who do magic with these things: Vivaldi is one example, Microsoft with Visual Studio Code is another) and with the adoption of React portals technology (the JavaScript library used by Vivaldi ) improves not only the speed of opening new tabs and windows, but also the overall performance of the browser.

The second novelty that Vivaldi 6.2 is interested in concerns the practical part and it is customizing the order of suggestions that appear in the address field: Do you prefer to see search suggestions, bookmarks, history results, autocomplete… first? Now you can tell it to do what you want, and not only that: you can also remove the options you don’t care about.

Another practical new feature in Vivaldi 6.2 is the new pro button quick delete history, which is located in the history panel. This is a shortcut to an option that has always existed in all Chromium-based browsers and allows you to clear your browser history “forever” or at various intervals. Three-quarters of the same has been done with the RSS button, which is now located in the address bar and lights up when a feed is available.

Other improvements in Vivaldi 6.2 for PC include new filters for the email client available from the drop-down menu in the message view and configurable in “Settings > Mail > Filter Buttons”; support for the OAuth authentication protocol for the FastMail service; and reincorporating geolocation services into macOS through Apple’s own system.

However, the news of Vivaldi 6.2 continues with the mobile application, respectively the application for AndroidWell, that iOS is still the last final version of it. Meanwhile, Vivaldi for Android improves ad blocking and tracking, fixes bookmark manager misbehavior, another system sync bug, and general browser behavior on tablets.
