Trailer self-propelled howitzers FH70 155 mm caliber will be used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the Italian newspaper Italy24 News. The Italian government is preparing a new 3rd military aid package for Ukraine. It is expected to be announced on May 19.
The full list is currently classified, but the media has learned that it will include FH70 howitzers, howitzers, Stinger MANPADS, machine guns, Lince armored SUVs and various ammunition. The FH70 is an older artillery system compared to the M777 howitzer, which came to Ukraine from the United States, Canada and Australia in the amount of one hundred units. At the same time, the automatic 155 mm FH70 artillery mount can be quite effective on the battlefield.
The FH70 is a self-propelled howitzer developed by the United Kingdom and Germany since 1969 and later joined by Italy. The project was to replace the American 155 mm howitzer M114. In 1976, the howitzer was adopted. The howitzer consists of several parts: the artillery compartment itself, a cradle with a recoil device and a mechanism for charging shells.
