The results of Steam’s latest hardware and software survey confirm that Windows 11 is still unstoppable. This operating system compared to the previous month, it increased by 2.55%. and the fee for its use increased to a 39.22%which means Windows 10 is coming.
With Windows 10, the trend is exactly the opposite, the operating system continues to decline and its share of use down 1.89% compared to the previous month remains va 55.98%. The distance between the two operating systems is still clear, but there’s no doubt that it’s only a matter of time before Windows 11 finally overcomes it, and at the rate it’s happening, it could happen sooner rather than later.
Windows 11 is Steam’s second most used operating system, but what about the hardware? It’s a good question, and the survey data gives us the answer. The most used configuration at the CPU level is the classic six coreswith 32.25%. In second place is quad-core with 24.88% and in third place is octa-core with 20.38%.
The most used GPU is GeForce GTX 1650which has a stake in 4.96%. There are no major changes at this level, second and third place still belong to GeForce RTX 3060 with 4.73% and GeForce GTX 1060 with 4.19%. The most used Radeon is RX 580 with 0.99%.

As usual, we also found other important and interesting data in this survey, such as the most common amount of graphics memory among Steam users, which is 8GB (29.85%)the most used screen resolution that still is 1080p (60.75%) and a total amount of storage that is still above 1 TB.
If we go deeper into the results of different sections, we can find some very interesting things. For example, 12.90% of Steam users have 12 GB of graphics memorybut the Radeon RX 6700 XT does not appear in the top positions, which means that the “culprit” is mostly the GeForce RTX 3060. Only 1.21% of users have 16 GB of graphics memory, and yet 2.43% have 24 GB of graphics memory.
As for RAM, 15.76% of users have 8GB of RAM, Enough to play many titles, although as I told you before, the recommended minimum is 16 GB. In the upper zone, we see that 20.54% of users have 32 GB of RAM, which is more than enough to be ready for the next big transition, which could start with the PS5 Pro and the intergenerational refresh from the Xbox Series X.
