Hackers offer the operator Orange sensitive customer data for sale. The information is offered via Telegram.

The hacker group Ragnar Locker offers a data sample of sensitive information about customers of the operator Orange on its Telegram channel. This is reported by Data News, which was able to view the shared data.

Burglary at the police station

For now, according to Data News, this suggests that this is part of the hack that hit the Zwijndrecht police area last year. Subsequently, Linux and Windows systems were compromised by malware and sensitive data was stolen. The group claims to be in possession of 46 GB of data that was passed on to the police by various operators as part of investigations. Some data can only be released with a court order, so there are suspicions that the same hack is involved.

The data provided includes:

• Complete address information
• phone number
• The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number of your device
• The International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) number of the SIM card
• location data of calls

As already mentioned, the data is from different operators, but the technology association Agoria emphasizes in a reply that the hack actually took place in the Zwijndrecht police area and not at one of the companies concerned. The association confirms that the operators have always acted correctly and safely and there is no evidence of a leak from any of them. Therefore, the operators would now check for themselves whether they can take legal action. Earlier this year, Agoria warned of a shortage of cybersecurity professionals following the series of incidents that included this hack.
