It was just over two months since the release of Final Fantasy XVI, on June 22. Recall that although it was previously announced that it would arrive on the Windows release date, Square Enix later backed down and confirmed that it would be temporarily exclusive to the PlayStation 5. Of course, this left a bad taste in the mouths of fans of the saga. about the continuation of the main saga.

As we already told you when we tested it, Final Fantasy XVI is generally, a very valuable part of the saga which was born in 1987 and which, ironically, was called Final Fantasy, because it was the last attempt of its creator Hironobu Sakaguchi to devote himself professionally to the creation of games. As is more than obvious, its creation had a lot of imagination, but nothing final, because for more than 35 years they remain one of the most successful franchises in the business.

The good news for those looking to enjoy the title on PC is that Sony and Square Enix have confirmed that it is a console exclusive it would only take six months, a rather tight deadline that, if rushed as quickly as possible, could even allow this long-awaited version to reach users waiting for it next Christmas, a few days before the turn of the year. And it’s because if the term started counting from the day the PlayStation 5 version went on sale, the PC version could land on digital platforms and retail outlets on December 22, 2023.

The fact that initially the company talked about both versions coming to the market at the same time makes us think that the developers were already working on it, and as we can read in Engadget, it is confirmed that Square Enix is already working on a PC version of Final Fantasy XVIAlthough at the moment there is no information about the current state of development, when it started and, of course, about the expected date of arrival on the market.

Even so, it’s strange to think that both tech companies signed up for six months of exclusivity, but Square Enix voluntarily extended it, giving up such an important sales moment as the Christmas campaign. And yes, it’s true that the deadline may seem pretty tight, but there’s nothing stopping them from offering it early so that it can be purchased early as a Christmas present. Although many things can still happen, I bet Final Fantasy XVI for PC will arrive with enough spare for said parties.
