Thanks to the leak, we were able to know the performance data of Radeon RX 7700 XT and Radeon RX 7800 XT. This is the official data provided by AMD itself in the analysis guides, so it reflects the best possible scenarios in each of the tested titles and allows us give us a rough idea of what to expect.
Before interpreting the results, it is important to keep several things in mind. The first is that AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT and Radeon RX 7800 XT benchmarks hardly consider ray tracingand that there is only one game that really makes heavy use of it, Cyberpunk 2077. The second is that all the tests were done in 1440 p.
The Radeon RX 7700 XT competes with the price range of the 16GB GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. The second can be purchased from 479 euros in Spainand the first one will have a prize 489 euros. This is a graphics card designed for 1440p playback and has the following specifications:
The Radeon RX 7800 XT is a direct competitor to the GeForce RTX 4070, which can be purchased from 580 euros in Spainwhile AMD’s solution will be priced at 549 euros. This graphics card will have the specifications that I have listed below:
Looking at the performance data, we see that the Radeon RX 7700 XT and Radeon RX 7800 XT are no match in advanced ray tracing. In Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing in Overdrive mode, Radeon RX 7700 XT loses 64% to 16GB GeForce RTX 4060 Tiand with ray tracing on ultra it still loses 28%.
In the case of Radeon RX 7800 XT, the difference with GeForce RTX 4070 in Cyberpunk 2077 with Overdrive mode 69% in favor of NVIDIA solutionsand with ultra ray tracing the first also loses 19%. Games that use minimal and almost completely pointless ray tracing, like Resident Evil 4 Remake, are the only ones to see this trend change.
However, in rasterization things changeand Radeon RX 7700 XT and Radeon RX 7800 XT bring their best face. On average, the former is 15.9% faster than the 16GB GeForce RTX 4060 Ti in raster and 5.4% slower in ray tracing. The raster performance of the Radeon RX 7800 XT is on average 6.9% better than the GeForce RTX 4070, but it loses 11.6% in ray tracing. Common evaluation of all tests:
It is important that you keep in mind that these results may vary depending on the tests we perform and the games we consider. In the selection of games with ray tracing, it proves that AMD has done there are titles that directly use ray tracing that aren’t worth it such as The Callisto Protocol and Resident Evil 4 Remake, and yet left out other titles that use much more advanced ray tracing and are worth it, such as Dying Light 2 or Control.
To complete this filtering a bit more, Videocardz has also shared the results of the set synthetic performance testswhere we can see the values obtained by Radeon RX 7700 XT and Radeon RX 7800 XT in tests such as Time Spy in its various modes, Port Royal, Fire Strike and 3DMark.
Introducing Radeon RX 7700 XT and Radeon RX 7800 XT it will happen tomorrowif all goes according to plan.
