Jabra introduces the Jabra Elite 8 Active for the sporty type and the Jabra Elite 10 for those who want to enjoy their earbuds both on the go and at work.

Jabra introduces the Jabra Elite 8 Active and the Jabra Elite 10. Ten is a higher number than eight, which makes it fair to conclude that these earbuds are the more advanced of the two. Jabra describes them as premium and sees them as companions for home, work and everywhere in between. As the name suggests, the Jabra Elite 8 Active is aimed primarily at the sportier type of person, which means Jabra hits a few different feature options.

Jabra Elite 10

The Elite 10 supports Dolby Atmos with associated head tracking, as well as a few other advanced sound codecs that ensure a reliable Bluetooth connection. The earphones have six microphones on board. Together with a software component, Jabra ensures that calls are clear in all situations. So you can use the Elite 10 behind your PC for a video call at work, but also on the train on the way to a meeting to quickly discuss something.

Jabra integrates advanced active noise cancellation into these headphones. This technology is said to cancel twice as much noise as the standard version of ANC and also has additional wind noise reduction. The devices have slightly larger drivers on board than other Jabra earphones (10mm), which should ensure a fuller sound.

Jabra says the earbuds can last up to six hours with ANC on. You can then charge them in the charging case for a total listening time of 27 hours without there being a power outlet nearby.

Jabra Elite 8 Active

At first glance, the Jabra Elite 8 Active earphones are significantly less interesting. They have standard ANC on board, although we learned from the description of the Elite 10 that it’s notably less good. The drivers are also smaller, so we expect less rich sound. However, Jabra offers a lot in return.

First of all, the earphones last longer (eight hours of autonomy, 32 hours with the case). The Jabra Elite 8 also has an IP68 rating and has passed MIL-STD-810H testing. Jabra doesn’t say exactly what tests those are, but the certificates guarantee that the earbuds are sweat, rain, dust, water and drop resistant. Ideally, they won’t fall out of your ears unless you’re already stumbling towards the ground, as the tests were based on a one meter fall.

The things are intended for sports with music, but also have six microphones on board to enable clear conversations. In exchange for slightly less advanced sound and ANC features, you get the ruggedness and drop resistance that comes with sport. In addition, Jabra uses a particularly non-slip material to minimize the risk of breakdowns.

Both earbuds support multipoint and get along with the Google Assistant. The Jabra Elite 8 Active costs 199 euros, the Elite 10 249 euros, each including VAT. Both are available starting this month.
