Three years have passed since the premiere of the fifth season of Black Mirrorthe iconic series by Charlie Brooker, which, especially in its first series, was able to punch our hearts, with diverse images of the more or less near future (in some cases we could almost talk about the present), which shows us what can happen if trends that are already a reality, they are developing in a certain direction.
If it were any other series, three years without news would have led us to conclude some time ago that the series had been canceled / completed and that we would only have to enjoy its best episodes again, but because we’re talking about Black Mirror and Charlie Brooker, heto reach such a conclusion was not so obviousalthough it is also true that since his arrival on Netflix, the rhythm has seemed to normalize.
On the other hand, Brooker left House of Tomorrow in 2020, his production company and the group that had the rights to the Black Mirror franchise, which made it very difficult for him to return to the series. However, after several mergers and acquisitions, we can read in Variety that an agreement was finally possible and that Netflix and Brooker are already working on the sixth season of Black Mirror.

And stillIt is too early to hear about the plot of future episodes, one of the Black Mirror elements that are always kept in the vault in another vault, just like on the day of arrival of the same. However, we can imagine that we will wait at least a few more months, as the production of Black Mirror episodes is usually quite complex and expensive and cannot be envied more than a cinematic premiere.
And in that sense, yes, there are reports of this, because a source informed about the project would confirm that the sixth season will have more episodes than the fifth (who has three) and that will have even more film processing and scope, something we could already see in some episodes of previous seasons. This is something we’ve seen before in series like Sherlock (the one on the BBC with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman).
It will be interesting rediscover Brooker’s sour and dystopian vision, even more so after three years, which not only allowed him to take a break from the format, but also added new elements that he will undoubtedly be able to add to the plots of the new Black Mirror episodes. Personally, I think that the series needed a break, and that these three years may end up being good news if Brooker uses them and surprises us again as in the past.
