China has launched a new remote sensing satellite into space

The launch vehicle carrying the Yaogan-33 03 satellite took off from Jiuquan Cosmodrome in northwest China at 02:14 local time (21:14 on Wednesday in Kiev). The spacecraft successfully entered the planned Earth orbit.

The Chinese side stated that the satellite will be used for scientific experiments, research of sea and land resources, evaluation of agricultural productivity, prevention of natural disasters and elimination of their consequences.

However, Western analysts believe that the Yaogan family spacecraft has a dual purpose and is used for both civilian and military needs. In particular, they carry out optical, radar and electronic reconnaissance activities in the interests of the Chinese army.

This mission was the 486th flight of the Long March launch vehicle series.

As reported by Ukrinform, Chinese private company Galactic Energy on Tuesday carried out a successful sea launch of its space launch vehicle CERES-1, along with four commercial satellites.
