India’s space agency ISRO shared the first images sent by the Aditya-L1 spacecraft, which is moving towards the Sun as part of its star observation mission.

According to the news of Ukrinform, the BBC reported this.

ISRO shared two photos taken with the camera mounted on the Aditya-L1 spacecraft on September 4.

The first shows the Earth and Moon in one frame, while the second photo is a “selfie” showing two of the seven scientific instruments on the mission vehicle.

Aditya-L1 has completed two orbits around Earth since its launch on Saturday. After the spacecraft orbits the Earth three more times, it will be launched towards L1, the Langrange point 1, the point between the Sun and Earth, where the Indian spacecraft is headed.

Once Aditya-L1 reaches this position, it will be able to orbit the Sun at the same speed as Earth, observe the star, and conduct scientific research that will help scientists study solar activity such as solar wind and solar flares and their effects. Effects on weather on Earth and near space in real time.

Aditya-L1 is said to take four months to reach its destination.

Japan on Thursday successfully launched the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries H2A carrier rocket, which launched the XRISM X-ray observatory and SLIM lunar landing module into space, as reported by Ukrinform.
