The resignation of the representative of the district of Tamworth in the House of Commons (Lower) will result in by-elections in this area of ​​central England to choose a replacement for him, which the opposition Labor Party will try to take advantage of.

In a statement sent to the British agency PA, Pincher recalls that he had already said he would not run in the next general election. scheduled for 2024, but after learning on Monday that his appeal had failed, he decided to speed up his march.

“I don’t want my voters to face more uncertainty and so I made an effort to resign and leave the House of Commons,” says the former head of parliamentary discipline for the ruling Conservative Party.

An independent parliamentary panel on Monday rejected his appeal against a standards committee’s July recommendation to suspend him for eight weeks after accusing him of “inappropriate sexual behavior” and “abuse of power” against two men at the exclusive Carlton Club in 2022.

“I once again sincerely apologize for my behavior. at the Carlton Club last year, just like the day I left the government. I have resigned as deputy head of Whip and have already said that I will not seek re-election,” he wrote on his Facebook account before learning in detail about the commission’s decision.
