During GamesCom 2023 we got a chance to see some news from Nintendo, but the main course was served behind closed doors and it was nothing more and nothing less than Nintendo Switch 2. According to new information, the Japanese company showed a technical demo of the said console to a select group of developers and had The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild as the protagonist.
Yes, we already know that this game was released on the Nintendo Switch, but in this case it was about a technical demo of said game, which had a number of improvements in order to take advantage of the greater hardware performance of the Nintendo Switch 2. We don’t have specific details, so we don’t know the resolution to which the game was moved, nor the graphical improvements, but it is possible to consider a higher resolution and improvements both at the level of lighting and shading, as well as textures.
It is important to note that since this is a tech demo, there is no guarantee that the big N will release an enhanced version of The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch 2. Still, some reading between the lines I think this shows quite clearly possible backwards compatibility between Nintendo Switch 2 and current modeland it makes me think that a Japanese company could take the opportunity to relaunch the most important titles of the original in improved versions, either as remakes or as remasters.

Think about it, it’s a circular motion. On the one hand, I keep backwards compatibility and make users happy, but on the other hand, I offer the same game with graphical improvements and I have income again. The user wins and so does Nintendoit seems like the right approach to me, really, although it’s my intuition, so take it as just a rumour.
The latest information continues to suggest that the Nintendo Switch 2 It won’t arrive until 2024, although there is no agreement on an exact date. Some sources point to the first half of that year and others suggest that we will see it at the end of the year. Both dates are credible, so we cannot rule out any of them.

Its power is not yet defined, but according to a recent leak, the dev kits perform almost at the level of the PS5. Keep that in mind dev kits are always more powerful than consolesso the actual performance of the Nintendo Switch 2 will not be that high.
Personally, if all the rumors we’ve seen are true, I’m inclined to think that the Nintendo Switch 2 It might even beat the Xbox Series Sand that’s mainly due to the weight of the DLSS Super Resolution technology, although it will obviously be behind the PS5 and Xbox Series X. It makes sense given that we are talking about a portable console.
