Owner Salesforce has expanded the communication platform Slack with three additional new functions with generative AI.
Dreamforce, Salesforce’s annual conference, starts next week. However, that doesn’t stop the company from making advance announcements. For example, there are some new AI capabilities for Slack that Salesforce has added.
Internal Intelligence
Slack AI is integrated into the platform, which should ensure easy access to the possibilities as you work. You can have a summary of a channel created, which is useful, for example, when there is a separate channel for a specific project. This way you will immediately get a status about it.
If you missed entire conversations in a thread, Slack AI can recap that too. You can also ask the system specific questions. The possible answers can not only contain text, files or channels, but you also get an AI-generated summary. Salesforce also emphasizes that no customer data is used to train the AI.
Using connectors from companies like Asana, Google, GitHub or Zoom, you can link different tools together in a single workflow and, according to Salesforce, with just a few clicks. Workflow Builder also has an extension for Salesforce Flow. For example, users can enhance their Slack workflow with automations from Salesforce.
These upgrades make it easier for developers to develop new apps for Slack and deploy them to the system. Slack takes care of the hosting so that all data is stored securely in the system. These apps can also be made available to others to use for their own automations.
In the new Companion Hub, users can find templates, easily access them, and discover recent workflows used in their organization. You can also customize your hub with automations that other teams are already using, which you can then copy and integrate.
listed
The latest new tool is Slack Lists. This is intended to make it easier to follow up on projects (new products, marketing campaigns) and works, and to process requests. Users can assign owners, make status updates, and discuss tasks.
You can also use Lists to monitor launches from Slack. When someone is mentioned in lists, they’ll be notified, just like in other Slack features. This should simplify the collaboration. You can also instantly assign requests to someone, discuss them with the requester, and complete them neatly after processing.
Availability
Slack AI and Slack Lists will be piloted this winter. The latter is slated to be generally available sometime in 2024. Workflow Builders is already available in paid packages, but the price depends on which package you are using. The new hub will arrive later this month.
Last month, Salesforce also announced a new theme for Slack. In terms of AI, there was also the previously announced integration of ChatGPT into the platform.
