Search engines in Australia, including Google and Bing, will be required to take action to prevent the distribution of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated child sexual abuse material.
This was reported by Reuters, Ukrinform reported.
The new code, developed at the request of the Australian government, will oblige search engines to ensure that such content is not included in search results.
It is also assumed that the artificial intelligence functions built into search engines should not create deepfakes of child abuse.
Cybersecurity Commissioner Julie Inman Grant said previous code developed by Google and owned by Microsoft as well as Alphabet and Bing did not cover AI-generated content, so she asked the companies to look into the issue.
Earlier this year, Australia’s internet regulator registered security codes for smartphones and hardware providers. These codes will come into force at the end of 2023.
According to Ukrinform, the European Parliament approved the project that will form the basis of the future law on the rules for regulating artificial intelligence.
