ChatGPT loses traffic for third month in a row, analysts say

Monthly visits to ChatGPT, OpenAI’s popular AI-powered chatbot launched in November, decreased for the third consecutive month.

Worldwide visits to ChatGPT’s website from desktop and mobile devices fell 3.2% to 1.43 billion in August, after falling nearly 10% in the previous two months, according to analytics firm Zirveweb.

He noted that the time visitors spend on the ChatGPT website has also decreased every month since March, dropping from an average of 8.7 minutes per site to 7 minutes per site in August.

However, in August, the number of unique visitors worldwide increased from 180 million to 180.5 million.

“Students looking for homework help appear to be part of this trend: the percentage of the website’s younger users dropped over the summer and is now starting to rise,” said David F. Carr of Zirveweb, who regularly tracks ChatGPT and its competitors.

As reported by Ukrinform, four Chinese tech companies, including Internet search giant Baidu and Hong Kong artificial intelligence (AI) developer SenseTime Group, launched their own chatbots based on generative artificial intelligence for their users on Thursday.
