Microsoft translates meetings live for users with a premium license. The translated transcript appears to the right of the meeting.
Microsoft brings live translated transcription to Teams. This feature lets you see who said what in a feed to the right of the meeting, but in a different language. The functionality supports more than thirty different languages at launch. The transcription feature is only available to users with a Teams Premium license and is rolling out in public preview.
Administration and settings
To try translated transcripts, the option below must appear Conference guidelines in the Teams Admin Center are activated. Administrators must also allow users to update their Teams client to the public preview version.
If so, the translation is behind the live transcription feature. By default it starts in the language in which a meeting is taking place. You can then change the language via Settings. It is also possible to view the original text and the translation together.
Microsoft believes that the new feature in Teams will make meetings more efficient but also more inclusive. Redmond is not the only one who wants to eliminate language barriers, Meta is also working on an AI that can serve as a universal translator.
