Microsoft’s purchase of Bethesda didn’t have any major impact on the PS5’s game catalog during the first years of the console’s life, but that’s starting to change, and how. Redfall was the first major exclusive that only came to the Xbox Series S and Series the same thing happened with the Starfielda game that is on track to become Bethesda’s biggest success.

The fact is that this latest exclusivity has led many to wonder for the future of Bethesda’s great franchises, and more specifically about the possibility of it eventually abandoning the PS5 altogether. Let’s stop for a moment to better understand the entity of the topic we are dealing with, which is that Bethesda is also the owner of id Software, which means that we are talking about many very important franchises.

In an extreme case, the PS5 and future users of Sony consoles could franchises such as Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, DOOM, Quake, The Evil Within, Wolfenstein, Dishonored and Prey are running out. Yes, I know some names on this list are more important than others, but for many gamers, myself included, DOOM may be more important than The Elder Scrolls, and Fallout may be above all others.

A matter of taste, but the bottom line is that we are talking about a large number of important franchises They drive a huge community of players. If Microsoft decided to make them exclusive to Xbox, it would certainly be a very hard blow for Sony and could be decisive for many considering buying a console from the Redmond giant instead of PlayStation.

Personally, I don’t think Microsoft will end up making such an extreme decision, but it’s likely that The Elder Scrolls and Fallout will end up exclusive to Xbox and PC. Phil Spencer himself recently commented on the subject that they decide on exclusives on a “case by case” basis, meaning that nothing is certain yet for The Elder Scrolls 6, which is the last major project they have in development.

However, when Spencer elaborated on the answer he gave in a recent interview, he didn’t name other consoles when he said they wanted their games to be available “in different places”, he was only talking about Xbox, PC and cloud consoles. . I think you can read between the lines that The Elder Scrolls 6 will not be released on PS5and that’s what I’m afraid of the same will happen with Fallout 5.
