Although Gmail is a very good email service, it is not very exciting as an application. Two new features are coming to Gmail to give you the fresh air you deserve: emoji reactions and “select all”.

“Select all” will finally allow us to select all displayed messages without having to go one by one, the most interesting change is react to an email using emojisas an alternative to a formal response.

Reactions with emojis

Gmail is laying the groundwork for us to do this reacting to an email with emojis. Traces of this have been found in both Gmail for Android and the iOS version, and while we’re yet to see how it will play out, the few text strings involved leave little to the imagination. In them we find texts such as “add emoji reactions” or “Coming soon: reactions with emojis”.

Other hidden texts in Gmail app, restrictions on reactions. For example, we cannot respond to an email if we are BCCed, if the message is encrypted, sent to a large number of people, or if you have already sent multiple reactions. Additionally, there will apparently be a limit of 20 reactions per message, and each email can contain up to 50 unique reactions.

Finally select all

In a more casual space, Gmail is almost ready button to select all messages. Although this may seem incredible and has been available on the Gmail website since the beginning of time, it is not possible to do this in the Gmail app, forcing you to select them one by one, even if there are hundreds of messages.

Select all emails is in Gmail version 2023.08.20.561750975. Although the version is not enabled as standard. Yes, apparently selects only messages uploaded to the app, not all of which may be available on that label. By default, Gmail loads 50 messages at a time; so when all of these are selected the ones on the screen will be selected. Very useful in any situation.
