We have been accepting for quite some time all kinds of Nintendo Switch 2 rumorsthe expected generational variation of the Nintendo console, which once again, instead of joining the permanent war between Microsoft and Sony generation after generation, plays in a league of its own, in which exclusives (with the optimization of the same ), a catalog that is not particularly extensive, but is full of iconic sagas, continues to convince her followers, generation after generation, to remain users of her design.

For years, Nintendo has always played the role of the weakest competitor when it comes to performance, and when its specs are put head-to-head, it falls short of the PlayStation and Xbox. Now at this point it’s important to establish the difference between specs and performance, and in fact, this second point is what makes the difference between a console being a very interesting option or, on the contrary, the most recommended. account. And of course, the control exercised over what gets on the platform and in what state plays a key role at this point.

In this regard, and with the expectation that the launch of the long-awaited Switch 2 will happen in early 2024, There have been some very interesting leaks in recent weeks and this, if fulfilled, will bring great joy to those who wait for it. About a month ago, we reviewed what was “known” so far, it recently leaked that its development kit offers surprising performance, and just a few days ago we learned that the console was present at Gamescom 2023 and that during it he moved an improved version of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and, it seems spectacular to me, also managed to demo Matrix Awakens, a beast created with Unreal Engine 5.

So what does the improved version of Breath of the Wild mean? And how did you perform with it? Well, as we can read in Wccftech, The Nintendo Switch 2 was able to run Zelda: Breath of the Wild in 4K at 60 frames per second with ray tracing.. In other words, this future evolution of the Switch could push the improved exclusivity over the original version on better terms than we can see with many titles coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

The key point to achieve this performance is something we already told you in the summary a few weeks ago, which is that its SoC will integrate A GPU based on the Ampere architecture, i.e. the one used by NVIDIA in the GeForce RTX 30 series. So this chip could use NVIDIA’s image scaling and enhancement technology, DLSS, which we already know is at a more advanced level of development than FSR, the scaling technology used by console APUs from Microsoft and Sony.

It means that the technical specifications of the Nintendo Switch 2 They will be better than the ones from the current generation of PlayStation and Xbox? This seems unlikely, although it could be much closer than previously thought. So if the console is able to offer better performance with its games than the models of its two rivals… well, it can be said that it is the most and the best optimized of this generation.
