Microsoft announces new features for IT administrators in Bing Chat Enterprise and clarifies data protection rules in Microsoft 365.

Thanks to Bing Chat Enterprise, companies can rely on generative AI without having to reuse the information they enter to train the AI. This way you prevent secret information from leaking. IT teams now get new admin tools from Microsoft to help them roll out Bing Chat Enterprise to individual users or a specific group before rolling out the AI across the entire organization.

Employees who want to use the AI bot without data being leaked must first log in with their Microsoft Enterprise ID. You can then consult Bing Chat Enterprise from the Microsoft Edge sidebar or from bing.com.

Data processing and data protection

Along with the new admin tools, Microsoft emphasizes that Bing Chat Enterprise does not have access to content within the organization such as documents, emails, meetings or Teams messages. The AI bot does not feed on data within the Microsoft 365 tenant.

Last month it was announced that Bing Chat Enterprise would not fall foul of European data rules. An additional measure has been taken for European users. The prompts you type in Bing are processed into a response at Microsoft’s data centers. Since the Enterprise version involves anonymized data, it does not fall under the European rules on data sovereignty and your input can therefore be transferred anywhere in the world.
