In 2022, the agency appointed an expert panel to review data on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), a new term for UFOs that now encompasses anomalous objects or events that cannot be immediately identified in the sky, underwater, or in space. The team is now preparing to release its first report on Thursday, September 14, which will provide recommendations to NASA on how to better collect and analyze data that could help explain the nature and origin of UAPs.
