Sony has announced an update for PS5 that will bring interesting improvements and new features to your console video games. The PlayStation 5 has a good life cycle ahead of it and it’s clear that Sony wants to increase its appeal to remain the best seller of its generation.

After a discount event that reduced its official selling price by 100 euros, and waiting for hardware news that may come from the rumor of the PS5 Slim (later the Pro variant) as well as the availability of the remote play controller, PlayStation Portal , Sony announces major software updates.

What’s in the new update for PS5

The update will be implemented worldwide from today and for all console versions. Like the previous ones, it will be free and will include new and other familiar features that have been beta tested in recent weeks.

Next to “a new wave of exciting game releases is coming”So according to the announcement, Sony is preparing for another Christmas campaign, the most important of the year with news such as:

SSD up to 8TB. Sony is increasing the console’s internal storage support by doubling the maximum level offered so far (4TB). The vast space occupied by today’s big games forces an improvement in capacity for those who need it.

PS Remote Play. The console will enhance this feature, allowing you to stream games from PS5 or PS4 consoles to another device, including smartphones and tablets (iOS and Android), PC and Mac, over the Internet or home network. We see increased support for Android TV OS 12, Chromecast 4K with Google TV or more BRAVIA TV models.

Dolby Atmos. Those who own Dolby Atmos-compatible HDMI devices such as soundbars, TVs or home theater systems can now enjoy 3D audio powered by Tempest 3D AudioTech technology, which renders specifically for the Dolby Atmos audio device in use, including overhead channels, allowing for an even greater level of immersion in the soundscapes of PS5 games.

Accessibility. You can now assign a second controller to your account as a secondary controller and use two controllers to control your PS5 console as if you were using only one. This feature is a new way to enjoy games in cooperation with others, or to help a friend or child through a particularly difficult part of the game. You can use a DualSense or DualSense Edge wireless controller or a third-party PS5-compatible controller.

Social function. Sony has also improved this section with several features such as updating the group’s user interface; screen preview sharing; easier connection to your friends’ gaming sessions; Game Hub tournament mosaic or reacting to messages with emoticons.

PS application. Later this month, Sony will roll out some new features to the PS app globally, across iOS and Android. Just like the PS5 update, you’ll be able to respond to messages with emojis and preview someone’s shared screen before connecting to the PS app.
