The audio specialist is bringing three new headphones onto the market in one fell swoop under the brand name QuietComfort. Bose is also making changes to the naming of its headphones.
Bose has achieved a hat trick with new headphones. In a press release, it announces three new models that will be available starting this month and next: the QuietComfort Headphones, the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds. Anyone who has been following the audio brand for a long time will notice that the product names no longer contain numbers: the models are now differentiated according to whether they have the word Ultra or not.
What makes the Ultra models special? A new technology, the Bose Immersive sound mentioned: a 3D effect in the audio for complete immersion. You can also recognize this by the name Spatial audiobut since Bose developed the technology itself, it gives it a different name so as not to get in the way of Dolby and Apple.
Immersive audio impacts battery life. The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones normally last 24 hours, but with always-on mode the runtime is reduced to 18 hours. For the earphones it’s six hours with and four hours without.
In addition, the Ultra headphones and earphones also feature head tracking so you can enjoy the immersive sound even more. The sensors in the ear flaps track the movements of your head, ensuring that the music “follows” you as you turn your head. Motion mode also allows you to “fix” the music at a specific location.
Bose is also improving the call quality of phone calls for the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds, making the earbuds better for taking a call while driving to work. Just like the Ultra headphones, the earbuds also support aptX Bluetooth for a higher bitrate.
While the entry-level model doesn’t have all of those shiny specs, it can count on solid noise cancellation and 24 hours of battery life. This makes the Bose headphones an ideal travel companion when commuting. Bose also gives you the choice of more ANC levels so you can adjust depending on your environment.
The Bose QuietComfort Headphones will initially be available from September 21st. The Ultra models will be released sometime in October. The press release does not mention prices in euros, but we assume prices in pounds and dollars (including VAT):
