Sergio Gutiérrez Luna, the member of parliament who invited Maussan, defended the “researcher” by saying “the study of issues, no matter what, is done by finding opposing ideas.” He emphasized the importance of considering different perspectives even when addressing controversial issues.

What real researchers say

Previous studies of the two “mummies” have questioned their extraterrestrial origins, suggesting instead that they may have been made from looted human and animal bones in a makeshift laboratory. Prominent Mexican astrobiologist Antigone Segura expressed skepticism, stating that “Maussant’s conclusions are not supported by the evidence.” He called the whole situation with the presentation of “alien mummies” a very shameful incident.
