Microsoft will hold a “Surface” event next week to update some of its own hardware products. Probably the most interesting will be the Surface Laptop Studio 2, convertible that was popular for its concept and design when the original version arrived on the market and in which a significant renovation of the internal hardware and connectivity is expected.

Surface Laptop Studio 2, same design, new interior

Microsoft will keep the PixelSense multi-touch screen 14.4 inches diagonal, a native resolution of 2400 x 1600 pixels, an aspect ratio of 3:2 and a refresh rate of 120 Hz The screen supports optical pens and we see it conveniently located in a hole in the same chassis.

Its design is also visible, with that back support and a hinge system that folds the screen over the keyboard in a way that’s different from a typical convertible, but with the same versatility and functionality as a tablet, notebook or intermediate presentation or drawing/note-taking device.

The biggest news will come from its internal hardware, updated with Intel’s Raptor Lake series and with options to include up to powerful Core i7-13800H. The graphics subsystem will also be enhanced with dedicated GeForce RTX40 Mobile graphics from NVIDIA and models up to RTX 4060.

The memory and storage section will also be very well covered, up to 64 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 2 Tbytes with PCIe 4.0 SSD.

There are new features in connectivity like premiere microSD card holder which it claims will arrive on customer demand, and a new USB4 port that is coming to the Surface line for the first time. There will be Thunderbolt 4 ports as well as full USB Type-A, which the original model lacked. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 are secure and the 58Wh battery is advanced for up to 19 hours of autonomy.

With Windows 11 pre-installed, the Surface Laptop Studio 2 will start at the price 1,599 euros, if the vendors consulted by the media are right.
